5 Must-Visit Places In Australia

September 2, 2016

Australia is the land of amazing scenery and fantastic experiences. We’re all aware of the must-see destinations of the Urulu rock and the Great Barrier Reef. But there is so much more to see in the land down under. If you are planning a trip to Australia or you want to explore your native country, then keep in mind the following destinations we’ve chosen for you.

Lake Hillier
A Pink Lake, need we say more? Yes, Australia is home to a lake that looks like a solid bubble-gum fountain in the full colour of pink. Although it doesn’t look quite as pink from above, the translucent hue of pink is still present even when you step closer.

The lake can be found in the Recherche Archipelago, in the south coast of Western Australia. The area offers plenty of things to do. You can go horse riding or cycling in the nearby forests and beaches. The ocean right next to the lake also offers plenty of opportunities for water sports, such as windsurfing or kayaking. You could even go fishing nearby.

The Esperance is the closest city to the lake and a great spot for your stay. You should definitely visit the Esperance Museum to find out more about the lake and the nearby region.

The Haunted Bookshop, Melbourne
Melbourne offers plenty of opportunities for tourists. You have museums, galleries and all sorts of culinary experiences to explore. But Melbourne also offers plenty of secret places to experience and the Haunted Bookshop is among them.

The Bookshop is not just about books about witchcraft and vampires. You can even participate in a haunted ghost tour that takes you to the spookiest places in the city. The popular tour has been running for 16 years, so it is sure to be an experience, you won’t forget.

Ningaloo Reef
Western Australia also offers a stunning reef experience, which you should add to your bucket list of things to see in the country. The Ningaloo Reef is among the world’s largest fringing reefs, which will be a thing to see.

It’s possible to snorkel almost right on the shore and see the colourful reefs and fish living in the ecosystem. If you’d like to take the experience to a whole new level, we definitely recommend participating in the swimming with whales tour. The feeling of swimming next to these gentle giants is a humbling one and you’ll be thinking about it for years to come.

Birdsville
Australia is famous for its stunning scenery, much of which includes the most remote areas in the world. It’s not common to recommend you visit a place in the middle of nowhere, but we are telling you to do so in this list.

Birdsville is one of the most remote little towns in the world, but it has plenty of things to offer you. The best and busiest time to visit is on the first weekend in September, when the town is overrun by horse racing. The whole area goes crazy, with plenty of things to do and see.

If you’d rather skip the horses, then Birdsville also stays true to its name and offers birdwatchers plenty to see. There are also plenty of old, cosy pubs to have a drink in and listen to the locals tell stunning stories.

You can also take your adventure to the next level by heading out to the Big Red Sand Dune. It’s the first and highest sand dune in Simpson and offers quite an off-road experience. Just make sure you are prepared for the conditions; you definitely need a bit of previous experience in these types of conditions to ensure your trip goes safely.

Sydney Olympic Park
If you are a big sports fan or if you just like the great outdoors, we recommend checking out the Sydney Olympic Park. The area offers plenty of fun things to do from picnics to shopping.

There are a number of picnic and barbecue areas and facilities available in the different maps within the Olympic Park. Our favourite areas include the Cathy Freeman Park and Wentworth Common. If you’d rather eat out, you should pick the Ribs & Rumps steakhouse or treat yourself to tasty Japanese food at Bamboo Field iii, Izakaya.

The above destinations are must-go for a holiday in Australia, although they are places you might not read about in the tourist guides. They offer everything for families and young adventurers. You can enjoy from stunning scenery and laidback experiences or experience an adventure.

When preparing for your trip, remember to use travel comparison sites like Hotels.com and Escape Travel to find the best deals. Make some initial plans of the things you definitely want to experience, but keep an open mind once you reach your destination. Sometimes the best Australia has an offer comes unexpectedly to your view.
