Beauty Tips to Stay & Look Young

November 29, 2016

Each age is a different and a new adventure which makes life a beautiful journey. As all wonderful experiences keep our soul young, we need to provide our body the same amount of wonderful care and experiences in order to look and remain healthy as we age. Here are 6 important tips to help you stay and look young.

1. Diet

Beauty and longevity are strongly linked to a healthy diet. You must have heard about people who lived more than 100 years and most of them mentioned a healthy diet as one of the most influential factors. A diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals assure a good function of the metabolism, a strong immune system and a glowing skin. As a matter of fact, studies indicate that antioxidants improve the skin system and speed up the process of skin repair, whereas vitamins and minerals hydrate cells.

Healthy Diet

One of the proteins which decrease as we grow older is collagen (known as the connective tissue that keeps the skin firm or attaches the bones). The vitamin that plays a role in the formation of collagen is vitamin C. Without it, collagen cannot be produced. Therefore, swap the bad eating habits with better ones by including more vegetables, fruits, less fats, less sugary drinks and no smoking. Also make sure that you stay hydrated as water has a major influence on the function of your organs.

2. Sleep

Sleep is perhaps the most ignored aspect of our busy life. We tend to allocate enough time to parties, meetings, studies or any other activities and very little time remains for a long restful sleep. The benefits of sleep are as many as diet’s benefits: it improves memory, nervous system and mood, it increases longevity and repairs skin cells and blood vessels. A good restful sleep helps your body and brain deal easier with new tasks the next day whereas a sleep deficiency can weaken your immunity, performance and emotional well-being. Make sure you allocate minimum 8 hours per night to sleep in order to maintain a normal weight balance, a strong immunity and an active healthy brain.

3. Exercises

Fitness has become a trend in the last few years where more celebrities, trainers and dietitians have stressed the importance and the numerous benefits of exercises. Inside and outside, the benefits of exercises can easily be seen: it boosts confidence and self esteem, it improves body’s flexibility and heart-rate, it nourishes skin cells and increases the blood flow. Moreover, physical activity also helps your body and mind cope easier and better with stress. Jogging, Zumba, cycling, dance classes, swimming or gym training are few of the many workout routines that can make a significant difference in your health and beauty.

4. Moisturize

Regardless of the type of your skin, you should always moisturize. Skipping this daily care routine can allow the environmental factors (I.e sunlight, pollution, wind, etc) deteriorate or damage your skin by causing redness, wrinkles, rougher appearance and less elasticity. You should regularly moisturize your face and body in the morning and in the evening after shower. Based on your skin type, make sure you opt for great quality care products (and not cheap ones) that nourish and protect your skin. A recommendable brand, famous for their organic ingredients which can provide the finest skin products is Jurlique.

5. Love

Who would have thought that relationships can keep us healthy and beautiful? Apparently, relationships play a key role in our health. Similar to physical activities, relationships bring plenty of mental and physical benefits in our lives. Romantic partners do not only influence each other’s lifestyle choices, but they also increase each other’s longevity; as a matter of fact, studies suggest that married couples are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular diseases. Why? Quality relationships bring emotional stability and inner peace which automatically benefits the body by keeping the blood pressure and heart rate to a normal level. Physical contact like cuddles, hugs or kisses increase the level of the love hormone oxytocin which improves your mood and strengthens the bond with your partner.

6. Less stress

Whether you are in a relationship or not, your attitude towards life and yourself can positively or negatively influence your health. Researchers suggest that stress can age you 10 years more. You cannot control what happens to you, but what you can control is the way you deal with it. When you are exposed to physical or emotional stress, your body produces more cortisol. As a result, a high level of cortisol can weaken immunity and predispose your body to diseases. There are numerous techniques which can help you find an emotional equilibrium such as counselling therapy, outdoor activities, explore your hobbies, religion, make a change where you can, etc. Regardless of the situation, remember that there is always a solution.

Although aging is an inevitable process, we can create a healthy lifestyle that keeps us healthy and glowing at any age.
